The NCV7518/NCV7518A Programmable Six-Channel Low-Side MOSFET Pre-Driver is part of the FLEXMOS automotive grade product family for driving logic level MOSFETs. The product can be controlled through a combination of serial SPI and parallel inputs. The device offers 3.3-V/5-V compatible inputs, and the serial output driver can be powered from either 3.3-V or 5-V. An internal power-on reset provides controlled power-up. A reset input allows external reinitialization, while an enable input allows simultaneous disabling of all outputs and diagnostics. Each channel independently monitors the drain voltage of its external MOSFET for fault conditions. The shorted load fault detection threshold is fully programmable using a combination of an externally programmed reference voltage and a discrete internal ratio. These ratios are SPI selectable, allowing different detection thresholds to be set for each channel. The fault-recovery operation of each channel is programmable and can be selected for latching shutdown or automatic retry. The status information for each channel is 3 bits coded for the fault type, provided via SPI communication. The FLEXMOS family offers application scalability through selection of external MOSFETs.
